A Bus Ride For Ellie

Well, since I was the chaperon on this event, I'm getting to blog for the first time. (It's Dan, if you were wondering).

So Ellie's Great-Grandpa Dan has been a bus driver in the Lapwai school district for 30 years and if any of you country-minded people saw the majority of his route, you'd know why. :) With that experience comes the trust of his eldest granddaughter (Nik) and hence a scheme was concocted to have his eldest GREAT-granddaughter have her first bus ride with her favorite Great-Grandfather.

Waiting for the bus...

We packed a "snack" in Ellie's new Dora The Explorer lunch box and were ready to get going. (For those of you keeping score at home, we had to leave at 6:30 AM to meet grandpa. Ellie got up on her own at 5:45AM!)

Getting on the bus was HARD work, but in the end it was worth every minute!

Couldn't resist

I couldn't resist adding this pic to the blog.

Tonight Colton had his dinner before we had ours so he joined us at the dinner table and sat like this the whole time we were eating!

YUM!

Colton usually sits in his "papasan" chair on the table while we eat dinner so he can be part of the family. Last night, instead of doing his typical lounging, he sat up the whole time and watched us eat...we finally realized he must be hungry too so we let him eat with us. = )

Happy Mother's Day

I've been wanting a fire pit for our patio so Dan gave me one for Mother's day. Last night we enjoyed s'mores with Nate, Linda and Lanae. We are looking forward to enjoying the fire pit all summer long!

Last year we planted some pear tomatos and they grew really well. This year we decided to try a few strawberries, cucumbers, cantelope, peas, and bell peppers...we will see how they do!
